About Echo
The Echo Quartet, formed in 2022 at San Jose State University, has quickly distinguished itself in the world of chamber music. Since its inception, the ensemble has garnered first place in prestigious competitions, including the Charleston International Music Competition and the King’s Peak International Music Competition. Most notably, Echo recently competed in the National Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Chamber Music Competition, where it emerged as one of only seven chamber ensembles selected from 2,000 applicants to participate in the National Round held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The quartet has also had the honor of being featured multiple times on the College Quartet Series at the International Saxophone Symposium, hosted by the United States Navy Band in Fairfax, VA. Recently, Echo was selected to perform at the North American Saxophone Alliance Southwest Regional Conference in Southern California, further solidifying its reputation in the saxophone community.
Members of the ensemble have also excelled individually, earning first prizes in competitions such as the California MTNA Young Artist Division Competition, the Palo Alto Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the CAPMT Concerto Competition, and the San Jose State University Concerto Competition. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Michael Hernandez at San Jose State University, the Echo Quartet has also had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with renowned musicians, including the Catalyst String Quartet, Timothy McAllister, and the world-famous Rascher Saxophone Quartet.
